The First And The Rest

The first girl that I loved was small and fair;
   I thought she was the sweetest thing alive—
The walking answer to a silent prayer—
   The pool in which I never took a dive.
The second girl I loved was tall and dark;
   She was so hot, she made my blue eyes blister.
The third one was a sexy little shark;
   The fourth one was the third one’s cute kid sister.
I could go on—and do, when I start drinking—
   The list is bigger than a tragic flaw.
And each new dream I fall for leaves me thinking
   That all my passions have obeyed one law:
      The first one gets your innocence, and all
      The rest drink your revenge like alcohol.
